About

Who Is AFC?

Ambassadors for Christ had its beginnings in October of 2006 when a small group of people sensed God’s leading to establish a church in the Hampton Roads area. A true church was formed from a core of 12 people, most of them children, who studied the Word of God and prayed together. Michelle Bowman was called to be their organizing pastor. A simplified form of worship and adhering to the great biblical doctrines of the reformed tradition was desired. The church, from its beginnings, had committed itself to worship of God through expository preaching and teaching, corporate prayer, praise, worship, and community outreach that resulted from God’s leading.

Our Story

The church’s first worship service was held on October 11, 2006, in the home of the pastor in Norfolk, VA. In less than 3 weeks, we were blessed with our first facility. The first service was held on November 5, 2006, the day we moved into our first building. On November 26, 2006, the building was dedicated to Christ and Michelle Bowman was ordained as the Prophet of the house and appointed as the residing Pastor of the ministry by our Overseer Apostle Frank Peebles.

Less than two and a half years later, God blessed Ambassadors For Christ with a larger facility. The dedication of the new sanctuary at 5465 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach VA was held on March 1, 2009. The Pastors begin to instruct and teach leaders in the ministry during this time and the ministry began to grow with there being 1 Elder, 2 Evangelist and 2 Ministers sitting under the leadership along with several Deacons and Missionaries. On November 5, 2011, Prophetess Michelle was named Sr. Pastor. By January of 2014 and after being nominated and counseled by the Apostolic Council of  VA, Pastor Michelle Bowman, was found worthy and ready to move into Apostleship. On January 25, 2014. She was consecrated and appointed as an Apostle, and Elder Natalie Stewart was ordained as Executive Pastor of Ambassadors for Christ.

In the summer of 2015, God would require AFC to move and we became displaced. With nowhere to go, AFC moved in and began to share locations with House of Adonai. God gave Apostle Michelle the word that AFC will only be there for 60 days. On the 60th day, God moved and AFC received their new church home. AFC relocated to the new location on October 1, 2015 at 700 Newtown Rd, Virginia Beach, VA where the church worshiped for over 2 years. After 2 years, AFC was again displaced after being told that the building they were in would be repurposed. Refusing to rent knowing God has promised them a building of their own, AFC relocated to 100 Witchduck, Virginia Beach, VA as we once again shared a location with another ministry. AFC was there for almost 2 years when God blessed us with our permanent home at 5520 Tidewater drive.

AFC had its first New Year’s Eve Service and officially moved in and began working on renewing the building January 13th, 2020. On Feb 2nd, 2020 AFC installed Ahmaude Griffin as the Youth Pastor, and on May 1st , 2022, Robert Vann was installed as Executive pastor. God, not being slack on his promises, continued to bless and grow AFC. In October 2023, AFC became partners with the Huntington YMCA.
